Simon is an artist printmaker specialising in lithography. He studied Fine Art at Exeter College of Art and was awarded a French Government Scholarship to study lithography at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. In 1995 he set up Oaks Editions Lithography Studio, which attracts artists from all over the UK to participate in courses and work with him to produce their own lithographs.

He has taught lithography and printmaking for many years in art schools, adult education colleges and independent community print workshops. His work has been selected for numerous national and international exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and is held in collections including the British Library, Cambridge University Library, Aberystwyth University, Manchester Metropolitan University Library and Leeds College of Art Library.

Recycling elements of larger drawings on lithography stones, the work is a playful exploration of landscape, balancing shape and colour in a series of related, one-off prints. Lithography depends on the chemical opposition of grease and water to print from the flat surface of limestone, appropriate for landscape imagery which sometimes also alludes to maps.
